Greenland has an airport PROBLEM

Greenland is a weird place. For one thing, it is geographically part of the North American continent, but it is politically part of Europe, more specifically Denmark. But there is a problem with Greenland: it has an absolute airport PROBLEM.

Greenland is absolutely SUBMERGED in snow, and it is also very isolated. This means it is practically impossible to build roads to get around. So they built airports. Yup, you guessed it right. Swiss001 said that the airports in Greenland have very short runways. Aaaannnddd... yup, you guessed it right again. He tried to land big planes on it. Anyway, the longest runway in Greenland, Kangerlussuaq (my brain: I'd like to meet whoever named that place), is long enough for an A330 land on. But twist is that "I'm-not-even-gonna-try-to-spell-that-again" is located 318 km from Nuuk, which is like the capital city of Greenland. But the problem is that because of a little something called global warming, this airport's gonna be closed in 3 years. There is actually an 'Air Greenland' that operates in, out and within Greenland. Their fleet consists of:

  1. The A330 a.k.a. the Butter Machine

  2. The Bombardier Dash-8 Q200

  3. The Beechcraft King Air

(They do operate a handful of helicopters, but since we are BIG fans of Swiss001 on this blog, we don't really care.)

Sooo, the helicopters, the King Air and the Q200 can fly literally everywhere, but the A330 can only fly in and out of Kangerlussuaq. So since Knagerlussuaq is gonna be closed in 3 years, the only option is to expand the runway of Nuuk or another airport. If you want to to get to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark from Nuuk, your only option is to get a flight from Nuuk to Kangerlussuaq which costs about $200-$700, and then a flight from Kangerlussuaq to Copenhagen which costs about $761. Sooo, if they close Kangerlussuaq airport and expand the runway of Nuuk airport, you could save something like 700 dollars!
